Our Story

ZIGO was born in 2018, inspired by the Swahili word 'MZIGO' meaning luggage. It all started when one of our founders had a custom school bag made from vibrant, durable African kitenge fabric. The design sparked so much interest that we began experimenting with new styles of kitenge bags, and just like that, ZIGO was launched.

Innovation is at the heart of what we do. In 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we swiftly pivoted to produce cotton masks; expanding our reach to new customers while supporting communities in a time of urgent need.

By 2022, we introduced the LEVA Collection (leather + canvas) in response to customer demand. And after years of refining our craft, we proudly launched our full leather bag collection in early 2025.
